AirAsia has launched its ‘FlyAhead’ service in India, allowing passengers to switch to an earlier flight by paying Rs 500-1,500 at the airport counter.
“Guests who reach the airport six hours or more prior to their scheduled flight departure, can opt for the FlyAhead service at the AirAsia Airport Counter. Change fees, which are typically ₹3,000 would be waived for all guests opting for the AirAsia FlyAhead service and fare differences typically charged by airlines would also not be applicable,” the airline said.
The move is likely to be a blessing for corporate travelers who often finish their business earlier than expected and can therefore look forward to reaching their home earlier by switching to an earlier flight.
Those who have booked under corporate and SME schemes need to pay only Rs 500 for the change of flight, while those who have booked under regular, retail fares will have to pay Rs 1,500 for the facility.
The move is a win-win for both parties, as airlines often fly planes with empty seats, which can be filled in by passengers waiting for the next flight at the airport.
AirAsia is a Malaysian multinational low-cost airline headquartered near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and has flights to more than 165 destinations spanning 25 countries.
It is one of the half a dozen low-cost carriers operating in India, and was one of the latest entrants into a market dominated by Indigo Airlines.
