Syngene International Ltd, the contract research unit of Biocon, announced the resignation of its chief operating officer Manoj Nerurkar.
It said Nerurkar, who has been with the COO of the company for nine years, will step down to an advisory role from October to pursue “an external start up opportunity outside of contract research services”.
Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Managing Director of Syngene, thanked Nerurkar for his contributions.
“His proven track record of building successful businesses through a focus on innovation and world class delivery will hold him in good stead in the future. I wish him the very best in his business endeavours,” she said.
The company said Nerurkar’s successor will be announced shortly.
The company said Nerurkar’s strategic advisory role will be “focussed on innovation across Syngene’s services”.
“I know both colleagues and clients will miss their day to day interactions with him, at the same time, I look forward to working with him in his new strategic advisory role and wish him great success with his new business venture,” said Syngene CEO Jonathan Hunt.
Syngene offers R&D services to companies and helps them cut costs, and has clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nutrition, animal health, consumer goods and specialty chemicals industries.
