Rupa underwear brings ‘Fruit of the Loom’ to India

Rupa & Company, one of India’s largest knitwear manufacturers, said it is launching ‘Fruit of the Loom’ underwear brand in India.

Fruit of the Loom, based in Kentucky, is one of the largest manufacturers and marketers underwear, T-shirts and fleece in the world.

The company will launch 87 styles across the men’s & women’s range at 2,500 stores by the end of this month, Rupa said.

The price range of Fruit of the Loom starts from Rs. 150 to Rs. 400 MRP.

Earlier this year, Rupa subsidiary Oban Fashions entered into a License Agreement with Fruit of the Loom, to acquire the exclusive license from Fruit of the Loom, INC., to manufacture, distribute, advertise and sell innerwear and outerwear products for men, boys, women, girls and toddlers in India.

The products are being manufactured in Tirupur, Indore, Daman and Chennai.

Fruit of the Loom is the second international brand, which will be manufactured and marketed in India by the Rupa Group after FCUK, which, it said, is “doing well.”

“Rupa Group is gearing up for rapid expansion and exploring multiple opportunities in global brand licensing,” it said.

The company said it wants to combines its huge manufacturing and distribution capabilities with the know-how of international brands.

Fruit of the Loom is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
