Fire has been reported from the eight floor of Arunachal Bhawan building in Sector 30, Vashi, New Mumbai.
No casualties have been reported.
However, there are four floors above the floor on which the fire has spread. Smoke can also be seen from the 9th floor, but it is not yet clear whether the floor too has caught fire.
All workers in the eighth floor have been evacuated. However, it is not clear whether there are people trapped in higher floors.
Four fire tenders are at the location.
The building, located not far from the Vashi railway station, is home to Arunachal Pradesh government’s guesthouse and emporium. The higher floors are occupied by private parties.
The building had been in the headlines over the Arunachal government’s decision to let much of it to private parties even though the plot was allocated to set up a state guest house-cum-emporium.
