PVR, India’s largest multiplex chain, said it opened its 127th property at Grand Galada Centre Mall in Chennai.
The facility will have five screens and is equipped with 2K projection, 7.1 Digital Dolby surround sound and Dolby ATMOS. The screens also support 3-D, the company said.
With this, the company now operates 584 screens in 50 cities.
PVR, which initially stood for Priya Village Roadshow, began as a joint venture between Priya Exhibitors and Village Roadshow in 1997.
The company is founded by Ajay Bijli, who is the Chairman and Managing Director.

The company has its origin as Priya Cinema in South Delhi, which was bought by Ajay Bijli’s father in 1978.
