Mahindra & Mahindra today announced a new luxury variant for is recently unveiled XUV700 premium SUV diesel.
The luxury variant, which will be available with both automatic transmission as well as manual transmission, will come with certain added features.
These extra features include a new ‘immersive 3D sound” system by Sony, electrically deployed smart door handles, 360 degree surround view, blind view monitoring, electronic park brake, driver knee airbag, passive keyless entry, continuous digital video recording and wireless charging.
The luxury configuration is available only in the diesel line-up, and will be applied to the AX7 variant in the seven seater configuration.
M&M is also offering a ‘special price’ of Rs 19.99 lakh for the first 25,000 bookings of the luxury edition. In case the customer goes for the automatic transmission option, it will add Rs 2.9 lakh to the overall price tag.
Bookings for the new luxury variants will start on October 7 at 10 am, the company said.
It also pointed out that since these are diesel variants, they would be delivered later than petrol variants. The company had announced earlier that it would be able to deliver petrol variants before diesel variants.
“An official announcement regarding the date for start of deliveries will be made by 10th October,” the company clarified.
The company has also put up a webpage on its portal that allows prospective buyers to see and save variant configurations, including fuel type, seating capacity, colour and dealer preferences.
This can be then used at the time of booking.
XUV 700 was unveiled last week, and a total of over 20 variants were listed, starting at just Rs 11.99 lakh.
Mahindra has much riding on the new variant. It is intended to replace the XUV500, which did not exactly set the sales charts on fire.
It is based on Mahindra’s global W601 platform come with some of the segment-first features. The platform is likely to be used by Ford as well as South Korea’s SsangYong to build their own SUVs.
