BHEL wins Rs 565 cr solar power order from

Bharat Heavy Electricals said it won a Rs 565 cr order for setting up four solar power plans in Telangana from Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

The total capacity of the four plants will be 129 MW, the state-owned capital equipment maker said.

With this, BHEL said its solar portfolio has risen to more than 710 MW.

The plant locations are Ramagundam (50 MW), Yellandu (39 MW), Manuguru (30 MW) and Pegadapally (10 MW).

The project will be undertaken on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

BHEL is one of the few companies in India with manufacturing capacity in solar cells, modules and power conditioning units. No company in India manufactures silicon wafers, the key raw material to make solar cells.

BHEL also has a high-efficiency cell plant at its Electronic Systems Division, Bengaluru.

The company is active in both the off-grid and grid-interactive solar power project construction market in India.
