HCL Technologies has been picked as the services partner for Broadcom’s enterprise software products, one of the two primary business units of CA Technologies, a software and solutions company that the chipmaker acquired earlier this year for $19 billion. HCL Tech will also take over some of the former employees of CA Technologies.
“Effective immediately, HCL becomes the preferred services partner for Broadcom’s enterprise software products (part of former CA Technologies) and will provide professional services, education and training services,” the Indian company said.
CA Technologies had two main business units when it was acquired by the chip company — mainframe and enterprise software, and the current partnership is for the second unit.
“Broadcom’s Mainframe and US Public Sector professional services group will continue to operate as-is outside of this partnership agreement,” HCL Tech said.
HCL has been a traditional partner to Broadcom for over a decade, and the chipmaker seems to have decided to offload some of the work done by CA Tech to the Indian company.
On its part, the Indian company said it will create a new Center of Excellence with dedicated focus on Broadcom enterprise software products “to provide broad capabilities and solutions for a superior customer experience”.
The size of the deal was disclosed.
Broadcom is a leading designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of digital and analog semiconductor connectivity solutions targeted at wired infrastructure, wireless communications, enterprise storage and industrial uses.
With the deal, “Broadcom customers will have access to HCL’s technological expertise across consulting, implementation, upgrade and support services. In addition, the majority of Broadcom’s professional services personnel with expertise including Agile, CyberSecurity, and DevOps will transition to HCL,” it said.
