Israeli company to supply tactical drones to India under JV with Cyient

Cyient, formerly known as Infotech Enterprises, said it will form a joint venture with Israel-based BlueBird Aero Systems to manufacture drones for security use in India.

The joint venture will be called Cyient Solutions & Systems Private Limited and will have 51% shareholding by Cyient.

BlueBird Aero Systems, said the Indian company, is a specialist in the design, development, and production of micro, mini, and small tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS, popularly known as drones.

The drones will be supplied to defence, paramilitary, security, and police forces in the country.

Cyient Solutions & Systems will indigenize, manufacture, assemble, integrate, and test advanced UAV systems at its production facilities in Hyderabad using Bluebird’s technology, it added

The JV will also provide comprehensive aftermarket services, including spares, repairs, maintenance, and support to end users.

The joint venture’s portfolio includes the SpyLite, ThunderB, and MicroB systems designed for covert, real-time intelligence and tactical mapping-on-demand missions across open areas or crowded urban environments, it said.

The joint venture agreement was signed today at DefExpo 2018, the company said.

He said the company will raise the bar in the iSTAR and mapping market in India.

Ronen Nadir, Founder & CEO, BlueBird Aero Systems said his company will transfer to Cyient Solutions Systems its latest, innovative technology and know-how.

Cyient offers engineering design, manufacturing, geospatial, networks, and operations management to its clients. It is focused on aerospace and defence, medical, telecommunications, rail transportation, semiconductor, utilities, industrial, energy and natural resources.
