Air tickets to go cheaper as Supreme Court quashes Airport Development Fees

In a judgement that will be welcomed by many air travellers in India, the Supreme Court has quashed the ‘Airport Development Fees’ or ADF charged by private airports like Delhi and Mumbai today.

The judgement is likely to lower domestic air tickets prices by around Rs 200 or more.

Besides ADF, air ticket prices are comprised of fuel charges, which make up around 70% of the end price, ‘passenger service fee’ etc..

Shares of GMR Infra, which runs the Delhi Airport, were down 2.2%, in line with the overall market which was down by around 2%
