TechCrunch, arguably the world’s top profiler of technology start-ups, is launching its first event in India, at the country’s IT capital.
Called ‘TechCrunch Bangalore’, the event follows the familiar recipe of hackathons, investment pitches and start-up networking.
TechCrunch, though primarily a website, has in recent years successfully diversified into a broad platform for technology start-ups to interact, showcase their products and attract investments.
The company’s biggest event is TechCrunch Disrupt, an annual conference held in San Francisco, New York and Beijing. It has, over time, become the stage where some technology start-ups launch their products and services competing on stage in front of venture capital potential investors, media and others.
The India event, scheduled for Nov 14 & 15, “will be a two day long celebration of technological innovation in the country with some of the most successful entrepreneurs from India and abroad, sharing unique insights into the big changes and trends happening in the world right now,” TechCrunch said.
Held at Hotel Vivanta by Taj, it is being organized in association with PlatformPlay Media Ventures.
The event “has been built to help propel India’s tech Startups into the centre of the debate about what’s changing in technology right now, what’s causing it and how we can harness the current economic climate to innovate and grow.”
The focus will largely be on building exciting global companies from India, the companies added.
