Videocon launches cheapest 4-inch 3G Android ICS phone in India

Videocon has launched two large 3G phones that are the cheapest in their category and are sure to give strong competition to others like Karbonn and Micromax. The 3.5 inch A20 is priced at a jaw-dropping Rs 4,900 and the A30 is priced at Rs 7,200 – much below what similar models are priced at in the Indian market at present.

The new 4-inch phone with Android 4, A30, is cheaper by about Rs 800-1000 when compared with its main competition – the Karbonn A11 (Rs 8,000) and the Karbonn A9+ (Rs 8,200).

The Indian market does not have many Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich or ICS) phones and Videocon’s launch is likely to add to consumer choice in the segment, besides making the segment more affordable.

However, the market is dominated by Karbonn, whose phones have been the undisputed kings of the affordable large-screen market at present. All the three phones have 7.2 Mbps 3G. Karbonn however, has 4.5 and 5.9 inch phones as well (A21 and A30 respectively.)

The Videocon A30 has a 1 Ghz Dual Core Qualcomm Processor, dual SIM-Dual, a big 1500 mAh battery and A2DP Bluetooth, besides 3G. It also has Wi-Fi, GPS and a-GPS.

In the 3.5-inch category, Videocon launched A20, priced at about Rs 4,900. Both phones have 7.2 Mbps 3G and Wi-Fi.

The Videocon A20 is powered by Qualcomm processor and has dual SIM, but ships with Android 2.3, a 1Ghz Qualcomm Processor, and a high resolution 3.5 inch HVGA Capacitive Touch Screen, 1350 mAh battery along with advanced 3MP rear + front VGA camera support, expandable memory up to 16GB, A2DP Bluetooth support, FM Radio with Recording and GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA.
