Akhilesh Yadav assures thorough probe

U.P chief minister Akhilesh Yadav rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s claim that the U.P. government is not serious about allegations of misappropriations by a trust owned by Salman Khurshid’s wife, Louise Khurshid.

“It is not correct. It is our government which initiated the inquiry. We could start the inquiry only when we came to power. How can anyone say we are not interested in conducting the inquiry or that we are not doing an impartial inquiry,” Yadav said.

The response comes hours after India Against Corruption chief Arvind Kejriwal said the UP government is soft-pedaling an investigation into alleged forgery of official signatures and other financial irregularities by a trust owned by Salman Khurshid’s wife Louise Khurshid.

Kejriwal produced witnesses who said they did not get benefits or got inappropriate benefits from the NGO. It is alleged that the NGO later claimed money from the government for carrying out philanthropic activities.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh criticized the media (Aaj Tak channel) for carrying programs on a subject which is being heard in the court. “According to the code of ethics of NBA (apex body of news channels), if there is proceedings about any subject in the court, TV channels should not broadcast about that,” he said.
