The government has registered a case against members of the banned Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) for holding an illegal terror training camp in Kerala. It was alleged that a secret training camp was organised by them at Thangalpara, Wagamon during Dec, 2007.
National Investigation Agency re-registered the case as NIA Crime No. 04/2010 on 21.01.2010 and investigation was carried out by a team of officers of the NIA.
The government said that the NIA team through systematic investigation completely worked out the case and established clinchingly the involvement of 30 hard core SIMI activists belonging to various states in the case. (04 belong to Kerala, 09 to Karnataka, 09 to Gujarat, 07 to Madhya Pradesh and 01 to Uttar Pradesh). They are all very active cadres of Students’ Islamic Movement of India(SIMI), it added.
Investigation has revealed that around Nov 2007, Office bearers and functionaries of SIMI conducted camps at Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, etc.
