Five major political parties have offered their full support to the three demands raised by the Anna Hazare group yesterday, movement leader Arvind Kejriwal said.
The three demands are
1) Entire bureaucracy must be within under the Lokpal’s scope, including the lowest level clerk or peon
2) There must be a citizen’s charter associated with the Act which spells out a grievance redressal mechanism in case action under the Act is delayed
3) Bill must include the creation of LokAyutkas as the State-level compatriot of the Lokpal
Kejriwal said the India Against Corruption alliance is reaching out to more and more political parties to get their support for the three demands of Anna Hazare.
The parties that have given full support for the three demands — which lie at the core of the Campaigns Lokpal demands —
are the main opposition party, the Bhartiya Janata Party or BJP, Janata Dal (United) JDU, Shiv Sena, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Communist Parties.
“We have many other demands.. But if the Parliament really wants Anna Hazare to break his fast as reflected in the resolution, at least these three should be passed,” Prashant Bhushan, Kejriwal’s fellow campaigner, said.
Interestingly, the Government is now pressing for a non-voting motion on the three proposals, unlike the earlier expectation that the motion calling for the above three points to be included in the upcoming law, will be passed through a voting process in the Parliament.
Out of the eight or so requests for taking the matter up, only two have called for voting, while the others, including those from Congress leaders, have requested for mere discussion and debate and no voting.
It is expected that if the three proposals are actually put to vote, it will show the real extent of support for Anna and his fight in the Parliament.
