J Dey murder may be handed over to CBI as RR Patil says no leads yet

The investigation into the murder of the crime journalist J Dey seems set to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the Maharashtra home minister RR Patil said the police have not been unearth any clues in the investigation so far.

“The criminals have not left any evidence for us to go by,” Patil said, adding that no breakthrough or worthwhile leads have emerged from six days of police-work.

The Bombay High Court has already asked the Government to hand over the investigation file after public interest litigation by journalists accused the police of being divided between supporters of Chhotta Rajan and Chotta Shakeel — two underworld dons.
