Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari has compared the recently broken up protest by Baba Ramdev to a “1992 like situation,” a reference to 6 December 1992 when right wing Hindu groups tore down a disputed Mosque in Ayodhya.
Tewari, speaking on Times Now channel, said that the agitation by the Yogi was far from peaceful and there were elements of RSS, BJP and VHP who were trying to sabotage the event.
“Bhatta Parsaul was an unprovoked attack on farmers,” Tewari said.
He said that unlike in Bhatta Parsaul, which the Congress took up as a great violation of human rights, there was “provocation” in case of Ramdev’s agitation.
In Bhatta Parsaul, UP policemen used lathis against farmers who were protesting land acquisition, some of them armed with country-made pistols.
Tewari also said that perhaps the training of the Delhi policemen was not up to the mark.
