Hero MotoCorp sets record in monthly two-wheeler sales in September

hero-septemberHero MotoCorp Limited, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, said it clocked the highest ever two-wheelers sales in a single month as sales grew by 11% to 6.74 lakh units in September from 6.06 units last year.

With this, Hero MotoCorp has sold 35.6 lakh units of two-wheelers between April to September this year, its highest ever sales in the first-half of any financial year, said the company.

The growth momentum is backed by a series of positive factors the successful market launch of the Splendor iSmart 110, the ‘Glamour’ emerging as the largest selling 125cc motorcycle in the country and the positive trend maintained by the new scooter portfolio, the company added.

This is the second consecutive month that Hero has sold six lakh plus units.

Hero MotoCorp in September crossed the milestone of production of 70 million two-wheelers per year, becoming the only Indian manufacturer to achieve this feat.

TVS Motor Company said its sales grew by 26% during the month of September as compared to Hero’s 11% growth.

Its sales increased to 2.93 lakh compared with 2.32 lakh for the same month the previous year.

Total two-wheeler sales increased by 30.1% to 2.87 lakhs from 2.21 lakh whereas domestic two wheeler sales grew by 33.6 % to 2.54 lakh from 1.90 lakh, the company added.

Motorcycle sales grew by 35.9 % to 1.22 lakh units from 90,393 units whereas scooter sales grew by 12.7% to 84,850 units from 75,307 units.
