GAIL India Limited, a government natural gas transmission and marketing company, said it has started operation of its first UNIPOL polyethylene process line with a capacity to produce 4,00,000 tons of polyethylene per year in its Pata plant in Uttar Pradesh.
GAIL’s flexible high-density polyethylene (HDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) swing plant provides access to a full range of resin applications which will allow GAIL and its customers to capture new market opportunities as polyethylene market demands are changing, said the company.
The new process line gives GAIL the platform to expand its PE product capabilities, providing Indian PE converters with the high-quality, domestically-produced resin products needed for both large-volume markets as well as advanced performance applications, the company added.
The Pata plants capacity is now 8.1 lakh tons per annum.
The project was commisioned with the help of the US-based Univation Technologies, the company further added.
GAIL (India) Ltd. is India’s principal natural gas company with activities ranging from gas transmission and marketing to processing, transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), production and marketing of petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in telecommunications.
