Suzlon gets 132 MW tower order from ReNew Power

suzlonSuzlon Group, one of India’s pioneering alternate energy equipment maker, said it got a 132 MW wind tower contract from ReNew Power.

The order comprises of Suzlon’s latest product offerings and includes S97.90m tubular tower and S97 120m Hybrid Tower with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW each, the company said. The S97 120m is one of the tallest all-steel hybrid tower (120 meter height) in the world.

The project is capable of providing power to over 70,000 households and reducing 0.28 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum.

With this order, Suzlon’s portfolio with ReNew Power would exceed 500 MW (510.30 MW) spanning across the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. ReNew Power has 220 MW of wind projects in pipeline in Andhra Pradesh. Renew Power is one of the leading customers of Suzlon.

Suzlon will provide services for 12 years as part of the contract. The project will be located in two sites, Elutalla and Veerbhadra sites in the Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh and is scheduled to be completed by March 2017.

The innovative S9X series product portfolio is designed to optimally harness the available wind resources and deliver higher energy and return on investment (ROI) to customers. The S972.1 MW wind turbine generator (WTG) features the time tested Doubly Fed induction Generator (DFIG) technology which is designed to maximize generation and unlock low wind sites.

The S97 120m prototype, set up in November 2014, at Kutch, Gujarat, achieved a plant load factor (PLF) of 35% over the first 12 months of operation. As on March 2016, S97 120m and S97.90m have installations of 281.40 MW and 1035.30 MW respectively.
