National Highway Authority of India said that it has partnered with Power Finance Corporation under their “Adopt a Green Highway Program” to plant trees on an 87 km stretch of NH 7 in Nagpur.
Power Finance Corporation will donate Rs. 13 crore for plantation and five year maintenance under their CSR funds for the project. It will cover the Borkhedi – Wadner & Khatara – Kelapur route the government added.
This event marks the first collaboration with the National Green Highways Mission – NHAI under their ‘Adopt a Green Highways’ Program.
The project will initiate with immediate effect as per the memorandum of association signed between NHAI and PFC.
A.K. Bhattacharya, MD of National Green Highways Mission, said that discussions with other PSUs such as Coal India Ltd and other corporates were under process to promote Greening of Highways.
