Tata Consultancy Services said it has expanded the scope of its existing support agreement with Swedish pharma retailer Apoteket as the latter prepares to diversify into new areas.
“Apoteket stores draw 34 million customers annually, making it the leading pharmaceuticals retailer in Sweden.
“The brand is looking to strengthen its leadership position in the region by transforming into a fullservice healthcare provider, offering services across the value chain on line and in-store,” said India’s largest IT and support services company.
Apoteket is a state-owned company that offers both medicines and qualified pharmaceutical services to consumers, healthcare and companies. It has about 400 outpatient pharmacies and 600 pharmacy agencies.
TCS has been a supplier of services to Apoteket since 2014.
Under the new agreement, TCS will provide both software and hardware/infrastructure support. Financial details of the new agreement have not been released.
“Apoteket is in the middle of a digital transformation driven by changing customer behavior where we need a strong partner also when it comes to development and maintenance services as well as helping us with innovation and scaling up usage of digital technologies such as Al and loT in order to create next generation customer experiences,” said the Swedish company.
TCS has been present in the Swedish market for more than a decade, and has several retailers from the country in its client-list, from grocery to apparel and specialty.
The Indian company helps its customers, mostly private enterprises, meet their IT needs without hiring a large army of in-house staff.
It specializes in both run-the-business functions, such as the maintenance of IT infrastructure, as well as ‘grow-the-business’ functions, such as coming up with or launching new and digital services in addition to the existing businesses of the clients.
