Escorts, one of India’s biggest tractor makers, reported a 12% jump in its unit sales in February.
The company sold 7,240 tractors in February this year, versus 6,462 last year, including exports.
Exports nearly doubled to 322 this year from 167 last year. Sales of tractors within India increased by 10% to 6,295, which is slower than what has been seen in previous months on an average.
The company had seen its domestic sales increase by over 23% during the first ten months of the year.
However, auto sales have slowed in the last three months for all players.
With the February numbers, the total sales of the company for the first eleven months of the year are at 84,507 units, up 23%.
Escorts’ main competitor in the Indian market is Mahindra & Mahindra. Others include Massey Fergusson, John Deere, Eicher, Swaraj and Tafe.
