Airtel has announced simplified international roaming tariffs under a minutes-pack concept.
Unlike other, more complicated tariffs, the new packs offer a certain number of minutes for international travellers that can be used to make either local calls in the foreign country or calls to India.
The 20-minute pack is priced at Rs 196, which works out to just under Rs 10 per minute, while the 40-minute pack is priced at Rs 296. For Rs 446, you get 75 minutes.
The 20-minute pack can be used over a period of seven days, while the 40-minute pack can be used over a period 30 days and the 75-minute pack over 90 days.
“With these packs, customers will now be able to make and receive free local calls and outgoing calls to India,” Airtel said.
“These new packs have been designed to help address the problem of quick, short calls overseas without the hassle of buying local SIMs,” it added.
Commenting on the launch, Vani Venkatesh, Chief Marketing Officer of Bharti Airtel said Airtel is the first telco in India to offer such packs.
The packs will be available in 20 countries, including the UAE, Nepal, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, USA, Qatar, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Srilanka and Bahrain.
Other countries included in the list are China, Canada, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, France, Netherlands and Thailand.
