Bharti Airtel has integrated its enterprise and carrier businesses and appointed Ajay Chitkara, the current CEO of Global Business, to head the combined operation.
Airtel said the integration of the global business with its enterprise unit will help it “leverage its global reach and deep relationships” for the benefit of its enterprise customers.
“Under Ajay’s leadership, Global Business grew in topline to become a billion dollar business, while EBIT margins jumped five-fold since 2013,” the company said.
Bharti Infratel CEO Pankaj Miglani will replace Ajay Chitkara as the head of Global Business, which deals primarily with its carrier and wholesale business, and will report to Chitkara.
The move comes even as competition in the enterprise market hots up with rival Reliance Communications having sold off its consumer business to focus exclusively on the enterprise market.
In his previous role as Director & CEO – Global Business and Nxtra, Ajay Chitkara was responsible for creating business strategies for Carriers, Global Enterprise and OTT segments. He has been with Airtel for 17 years.
Miglani is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Company Secretary with more than 25 years of experience in the finance and business domains. He has earlier worked in Airtel for 10 years in various roles, including Chief Controller – Enterprise Business and Business Head – Global Voice Services.
