Tata Consultancy Services said it opened its third delivery center in France, with a capacity to seat up to 230 employees.
The new DC is being opened at Suresnes near Paris.
The company, which opened its first delivery center in 2012 and a second one two years later, did not specify how many employees would work out of the new center in the beginning.
TCS said it has doubled the number of employees at its second delivery center, in Poitiers, in the last two years, and the new facility will help fuel further growth.
It also said the new location could cater to sensitive clients as it has “highly secure connectivity” and “secure spaces”.
MACRON’S INVITE
The French President Emmanuel Macron had visited India earlier this year and urged Indian companies to invest in France.
Indian companies have traditionally preferred the UK, as it was seen as more business friendly compared to France, which has a history of labor actions.
This has changed in recent years due to the exit of Britain from the European Union, and the need for companies like TCS to shift some operations from the UK to other EU countries as a result.
On his part, Macron has been keen to get rid of the image of France as a country where labor laws come in the way of productivity, and has been pushing for reforms in this area.
TCS said the investment comes in the wake of Macron’s recently outlined strategy to invest 1.5 bln euros into artificial intelligence.
“As TCS celebrates 50 years of operations and 25 years of presence in France, the opening of this Delivery Center marks a new step in our development in this strategic market,” said Rajesh Gopinathan, CEO and MD of TCS.
TCS established operations in France in 1992, and acquired partner TKS in 2006. It acquired another consulting firm, Alti, in 2013.
