HCL Technologies (HCL) said Germany-based enterprise software giant SAP has agreed to include, and resell, an ‘add on’ that it developed for aviation-related clients as part of a broader solution.
The add-on will help clients streamline their ‘maintenance, repair and overhaul’ operations when using SAP’s enterprise asset management or EAM solution. EAM software is used by large organizations to keep track of their various assets.
HCL has been helping clients implement SAP’s software solutions for around two decades, and accumulated enough expertise to develop the solution, particularly given that many of its clients are from the aviation, aerospace and defence industries.
HCL’s solution will be called ‘SAP EAM add-on for MRO by HCL’ and will be sold as an SAP Solution Extension.
The add on will help companies manage maintenance programs, configuration management and MRO execution as well as maintenance for engines, complex assets and compounds, the Indian company said.
The nature of the revenue split between the two partners was not disclosed.
Typically, platform providers like Oracle and SAP keep a certain percentage of the revenue generated from sales of third-party software made through their platform to their clients.
“The expertise and capability that HCL has as a partner and as an independent software vendor made it a natural choice to develop this add-on for the MRO solution,” said Christoph Behrendt, Executive Vice President, Industry & Application Innovation, SAP SE.
