Himachal Futuristics or HFCL, promoted by Mahendra Nahata — who helped in the formation of Reliance Jio — said it won a Rs 558 cr advance purchase order from BSNL to set up microwave radio links for a defence network.
“The Company has received an Advance Purchase Order worth Rs.558 Crore approx from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, New Delhi vide its letter dated 10th October, 2017 for Planning, Designing, Procurement, Installation, Integration, Commissioning, Testing, Training, Documentation and Maintenance of Hybrid Microwave broadband radio links including repeaters, EMS/NMS and antenna towers and accessories on turnkey basis for pan India Defence Network,” the company said.
Microwave links are used to provide point-to-point wireless connections, and are widely used by telecom operators to provide backhaul connectivity to their remote towers.
They are also used for communication by police and other government organizations.
BSNL is one of the companies that have been entrusted with creating a pan-India communication network for India’s defence services.
