Today marks the last day of telecom operator Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan promotional offer that triples the validity of 4G recharges on its platform.
The offer was unveiled as a promotional scheme on April 11, and according to the law, promotional schemes can be valid only for a period of 90 days, which expires today.
This means that any customer who wants to take advantage of the triple validity scheme will have to recharge today.
Given that it is a one-time offer, any phone number that has already taken advantage of the triple validity scheme cannot avail of the facility again.
However, new phone numbers or numbers that have never been recharged with the Summer Surprise or Dhan Dhana Dhan schemes are eligible to get the triple benefit till today.
For now, there is no information about whether or not the company will come up with a new plan to replace Dhan Dhana Dhan today or tomorrow.
Without a new promotional plan, customers will get only regular validity — usually 28 days — for their prepaid recharges.
Reliance Jio’s regular plans include schemes offering 1 GB per day for 309, 2 GB per day for Rs 509 and 60 GB valid for 60 days for Rs 999.
Under the triple validity offer, the validity of the first two schemes are extended to 84 days, while the 999 scheme gives 120 GB with a validity of 120 days.
Industry buzz suggests that the company will choose to unveil new plans at the annual general meeting of its parent company Reliance Industries on July 21.
It is also expected to unveil a low-priced 4G Volte feature phone at the event. At present, 4G feature phones in India cost around Rs 3,000, which make them thrice as expensive as regular feature phones.
Bharti Airtel is also expected to unveil its VoLTE service and schemes before the RIL annual general meeting.
