HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone brand, has launched the ‘pro’ version of its Desire 10 phone in India at a price of Rs 26,490.
The phone is available on preorder with some vendors.
As expected, the new model is far from value for money, and is unlikely to be a big hit.
The device comes with 4 GB of RAM and the MediaTek Helio P10 chipset.
Built-in storage is 64 GB and the 5.5-inch LCD display carries a full-HD resolution and Gorilla Glass protection.
The Android 6.0 powered phone has a 3 Ah battery, which is on the lower side.
While the above specifications are similar to phones priced in the Rs 12,000 bracket in India, the HTC Desire 10 Pro does come with superior camera compared to the mid-range models.
The Desire 10 Pro, for example, has a 20 MP shooter at the back and a 13 MP front-facing camera.
Thanks to Helio P10, the phone also supports Category 6 (dual carrier) LTE with maximum download speed of 300 Mbps.
The actual sale of the phone will start in the first week of January.

The device is an improved version of the Desire 10, which is available in India at a price of Rs 15,990. This version comes with an HD display (not full-HD) and a 13 MP rear camera.
It was launched two months earlier.
HTC has found its increasingly difficult to sell its phones in India due to competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Lenovo and LeEco, which price their phones at roughly half the level that HTC does on a spec-for-spec basis.
For somewhat the same price, one can also buy the OnePlus 3, which comes with a far superior Snapdragon 820 chipset with features like fast charging and higher efficiency, and has an AMOLED display to boot.
