After the mammoth success of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, and ‘Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan’, director Nadirshah is back with his new movie ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ that features Asif Ali, Biju Menon, and Baiju in lead roles. The film hit the theaters all across Kerala on April 05, 2019. As per recent reports, the film is getting positive reviews from all corners, and Nadirshah has once again succeeded in crafting an in and out commercial entertainer that will impress family audiences.
In the box-office, ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is locking horns with Mohanlal’s ‘Lucifer’ that hit the screens on March 28. The film which received an overwhelming response has already emerged as a blockbuster at the box-office and at the end of its 8-day theatrical run, it has apparently racked up more than 81 crores worldwide.
However, trade experts believe that the release of ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ may slightly impact the glorious box-office run of ‘Lucifer’ in the coming days. As ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is a tailor-made flick for family audiences, people may prefer this film at least in its opening days, and if it happens, it may affect the collection of the Mohanlal starrer.
Apart from Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju, ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ also stars Nikhila Vimal, Sreenivasan, Asha Aravind, KB Ganesh Kumar and Dharmajan Bolgatty in other prominent roles. Jakes Bejoy has composed the background score of this film, while the camera is cranked by Vinod Illampally. The film is bankrolled by B Rakesh in the banner of Universal Cinemas.
Mollywood box-office may witness a triangular competition this summer if Mammootty’s ‘Madhura Raja’ which will be released on April 12 also succeeds in getting positive reviews. It should be noted that most of the films that featured Mammootty in the lead role had bombed at the box-office in the recent past, and the actor aims to make a strong comeback through this sequel of ‘Pokkiri Raja’ that is directed by hitmaker Vyshakh.
