Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd launched its 15th bike of the year, the 125 cc CB Shine SP.

The motorcycle maker had promised at the beginning of the year that it would introduce 15 new bikes (including upgrades) this year. Honda is the fastest growing bike brand in India.

The Honda CB Shine SP has a five-speed gear box and delivers 65 km to the liter in terms of mileage.

The bike, targeted at the mass-category segment with a price of Rs 59,900, also has newer looks.

“With urbane sharp looks and modern styling, the new CB Shine SP has been conceptualized to make the rider feel ‘Special’ and add style and dynamism to commuter segment,” the company said.

The Shine SP is available in three variants — the base model with alloy wheels and self-start motor, the intermediate model with disc-brakes thrown at Rs 62,400 and the high end model, called CBS, priced at Rs 64,400.

Honda has successfully eaten market share from its rivals such as Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj after breaking its joint venture – Hero Honda. The Shine, with a blend of power and fuel efficiency, is its primary offering and has sold over 4.3 mln units in India.

“Though CB Shine enjoys 46% market share, our plan is to further strengthen Honda’s leadership position in 125 cc segment. We are extending the family with this Pride and what we are showcasing today is the next step of this legacy – loaded with additional features making it very very special,” said Y S Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.

The new SP variant features one of the longest wheelbase in the segment and a higher ground clearance for practical and comfortable usage on all types of Indian roads, the company said.

“With urbane sharp looks and modern styling, the new CB Shine SP has been conceptualized to make the rider feel ‘Special’ and add style and dynamism to commuter segment. A combination of sharp headlight with carved visor on top of it, lend an attractive front-look to CB Shine SP.

“Stylish graphics, aided by front cowl and tank graphics infuse a sense of excitement and liveliness while the curved tank with 3D emblem brings in agility and premiumness to the motorcycle. The sporty character of CB Shine SP receives a boost with the digital analog meter console and the dual tone side-cover.

“The combination of 5-split alloy wheels with discs adds to its distinctiveness while the strong 2-piece designed modern muffler leaves a lasting impression,” the company said.

The provision of a fifth gear will lower vibrations and noise even at speeds of over 60 kmph.

The company has provided tubeless tyres on the Shine SP, reducing the chances of immediate deflation in case of puncture.

It also has Combi-Brake System (CBS), which ensures a smoother stoppage using both wheels.

“While India is the World’s fastest growing economy, it is also home to one of world’s youngest populations. These youngsters recognise their ‘special’ place in society,” said Keita Muramatsu – President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.

“The new CB Shine SP helps them reflect the same ‘special status’ and puts them a gear ahead of their peers. CB Shine SP is an extension of the ‘new era of motorcycling’ we had ushered in at the Honda RevFest 2015. The model was showcased as a mystery model in August 2015.”

The bike comes in 5 colors – Geny Grey Metalic, Athletic Blue Metallic, Pearl Amazing White, Black and Rebel Red Metallic.
