The company was also told by the District Consumer Forum in Ferozepur to return the original cost of the handset, Rs 8,950, along with interest.

The complainant, Ravinder Singh, a resident of Ferozepur Cantt, purchased a Karbonn A27 mobile, which started getting network issues soon after.

However, Karbonn service center could not repair or replace the mobile phone as the company had run out of stock. Instead, Karbonn offered the A27+ model, which was rejected by Singh.

The consumer forum headed by Gurpratap Singh Brar held the company at fault and said since it did not have the same model to replace the defective item, it should return the money to the customer. It also imposed a compensation of Rs 3,000 for mental harrassment and Rs 2,000 as litigation expenses.
