Idea claimed that the connection was deactivated due to disuse, while the consumer, Anand Krishnan of Kasargod in Kerala, claimed that the number was in use regularly.

Krishnan produced a call list of his BSNL landline number which showed calls to the disconnected number.

Idea, however, argued that the SIM was disconnected due to the non-usage and it had the right to block the service on 89th day of the non-usage and deactivate the sim on 90th day of the non-usage.

However, Krishnan said he was using the disputed idea sim number as the only contacting number for his customers to contact him. Krishnan is conducting invertors supply business.

In all, the forum awarded Rs 27,000, including litigation charges, as compensation to the businessman from Idea for the disconnection.
