Auto Expo: Triumph Motorcycles to unveil India plans

Triumph Motorcylces, the third global retro brand of motorcycles to hit India in recent years, will unveil its plans for the country on Thursday at Delhi’s Auto Expo 2014.

The company is the third to expand in India after the iconic brands Harley-Davidson and Indian.

British-owned Triumph has models starting at about Rs 590,000 in India, same as Harley-Davidson. In comparison, the cheapest Indian costs at least four times as much.

Triumph said it would unveil its product line up for India at the even at Auto Expo 2014. The company, which is present in markets such as Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai, said it will also lay out its plans for 2014.

Auto Expo is billed as Asia’s largest auto show and will be held from 6 to 9 February.

Harley-Davidson has sold 4,000 of its bikes in India in the first three years of its operations in India. The company, which opened its first dealership in July 2010, opened its 12th showroom in the country in Panaji, Goa.
