Parag Sawant, the last survivor of the Mumbai 7/11 serial blasts passed away today morning at the P.D. Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.
Parag Sawant had been admitted to the hospital on July 12, 2006 post the 7/11 serial blasts in Mumbai with severe head injuries.
He was in deep coma for about two years and then his condition gradually improved into a semi conscious state where he would understand simple commands. He underwent multiple operations for brain treatment and then was on supportive care and physiotherapy for few years.
“Early this morning at 5:30 am, the staff nurse checked Parag and his condition was stable. Later at 6:00 am his saturation levels had dropped and was put on oxygen to stabilize his breathing condition. He had a sudden respiratory arrest for which the CPR team conducted all the resuscitation measures,” said Dr. B K Misra, Consultant Neurosurgeon, P.D. Hinduja Hospital.
“In spite of all resuscitation measures, Parag could not be revived and was declared dead at 6:54 am on July 7, 2015. He died because of cardio respiratory arrest and most likely possibility of immediate deterioration could be pulmonary embolism,” he added.
