Bajaj Auto motorcycle sales rise 10% in June

bajaj Bajaj Auto, the country’s biggest maker of premium motorcycles, said it saw a 10% jump in its June sales to 2.87 lakh compared to a year ago.

The trend is in line with sales numbers released by competitors like Yamaha and TVS Motors.

Bajaj Auto’s increase in sales in June is a break from the volatile and often declining trend shown by the motorcycle company over the past few months.

With this increase, Bajaj Auto has managed to equalize the number of motorcycles it sold in the first half of last year and this year (8.75 lakh).

On the other hand, Bajaj’s three-wheeler sales, which had been going strong, slowed during June, rising just 1% on year. However, for the six months of 2015, total three-wheeler sales is up 21%.

Hero Motocorp has been the only motorcycle maker to report lackluster numbers for June, with sales remaining largely flat.

The company sold 5,42,362 motorcyles during the month, more or less unchanged from last year’s 5,41,594 units.

Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. announced a growth of 26% in domestic sales, while TVS Motors’ two wheeler sales grew by 7% increasing to 211,002 units for the month.
