Domino’s to offer ‘Turbo Pizza’ on Mumbai Metro

Mumbai Metro has tied up with Domino’s to offer customers pizza within 3-5 minutes of ordering, starting with the Chakala station.

“This is the first such Domino’s Pizza outlet in India, which will bake Pizza in three minutes and offer the same to the customers,” Mumbai Metro said.

Turbo ovens and pizza warmers have been put in place at Chakala station to enable the fast serving experience. The pizza outlet would serve Pizza of one particular size with different toppings. Minimum price for a pizza would be Rs 60.

By end of July, two more metro stations – Andheri and Versova – will have similar outlets, while most other stations will be included in near future, Mumbai Metro said.

The Pizza outlet is based on the Pizza theatre concept wherein the pizza in the making can be seen by the customers.

“This outlet also has a glass window wherein the Pizza making is shown,” it said.

Mumbaikars are known for their ‘lack of time’, and commuters typically do not like to wait for 10-15 minutes for their pizza. As a result, most commuters prefer quick snacks like vada pavs and hamburgers when they are hungry.

Domino’s Pizza is operated in India by Jubilant Food Works, while Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL) is a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd.

In the last one year, Mumbai Metro has served over 90 million commuters in 130,000 trips and maintained more than 99% efficiency.
