SpiceJet said it had seen a 400% increase in booking volume on the first day of its holiday sale.
The three day sale launched on May 19 will be open till midnight May 21. The travel period covered in this sale is July 1, 2015 to October 15, 2015. The offer is available for all domestic flights on SpiceJet’s direct, via and connecting flights network. International sectors are not included in this offer.
Fares start as low as Rs 1,010 all inclusive, SpiceJet said.
It did not reveal how many seats were available under the offer or how many has already been sold.
“This promo has seen the highest demand from two preferred holiday destinations—Srinagar and Goa. New Delhi-Srinagar and Mumbai-Goa are among the sectors that seen maximum demand under this offer. Other top routes were like Kolkata- New Delhi and Mumbai-New Delhi. From South India, Bengaluru-New Delhi route was in demand,” it said.
SpiceJet, under its former owner Kalanidhi Maran, can be credited with reviving activity in India’s aviation sector with extremely low-priced offers, such as tickets for Rs 200 all in.
Though the carrier has stopped offering such obviously unsustainable prices and offers, it continues to be the most aggressive in terms of schemes and sales.
