Larsen & Toubro, India’s largest construction company, has won an order to design and build tracks for Riyadh Metro project in Saudi Arabia.
The value of the contract is estimated at $161.37 Mn or 1070 crores.
The project involves the construction of 62.86 KMs of double ballastless tracks in tunnels, viaducts, at-grade sections and three depots. The project is scheduled to be completed in 40 months.
L&T described the deal with the construction consortium as a “major breakthrough railway order”. Consortium comprises of international majors such as Bechtel, Almabani, CCC and Siemens.
“This order has been won against stiff international competition and is in sync with L&T’s strategy to expand their Railway Business into the Middle-East,” L&T said.
Larsen & Toubro generates over $15 billion in revenue per year.
