iBall has launched the first dual-core powered and IPS-display enabled low-cost tablet in India – the PC i9702 Slide – priced at Rs 15,000.
The tablet, as already noted, is the most advanced tablet ever launched by any Indian or Chinese low-cost company in India, and has a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.
It also has a quad-core Mali (designed by ARM) processor to support the 9.7 inch display.
What is, however, missing from iBall’s description of the tablet, is the display resolution, but we believe it must be about 1024*768, though we are not sure. Anything less than that would fail to do justice to the otherwise superb specifications.
It may be noted that for another Rs 5,000, you can buy the 7-inch Samsung Tab 2, which has about one-third more pixels than a 1024*768 pixel display and carries the Samsung assurance.
Despite that, however, the iBall Slide PC i9702 is an indicator that finally, dual-core processors and IPS displays are available in the non-MNC brand market.
IPS technology ‘raises’ the picture to almost the glass level, ensuring clear vision of the display even when the phone is held at an angle. As a result, IPS displays appear more sophisticated and offer better colour and clear images. Most high-end smartphones have IPS displays.
