iBall Slide tablet launched, priced at Rs 13,995 in India

iBall, famous for computer peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, web-cam etc., has just launched the iBall Slide, a tablet very similar to the Spice Mi-720 tablet except for built-in 3G support.

In addition, the iBall Slide also suffers from a higher price of Rs 13,995, compared to Rs 11,990 for the Spice Mi-720 and Rs 12,990 for the Reliance 3G Tab.

On the plus side, the iBall Slide has a multi-touch capacitive display, compared to the ordinary capacitive display of the Spice Mi-720.

The iBall Slide also has a 1GHz ARM Cortex – A8 processor, more powerful than the 800 MHz processors on the Spice Mi-720 and the Reliance 3G Tab. It also comes with Android 2.3, compared to Android 2.2 for Spice Mi-720.

Like the Spice Mi-720, the iBall Slide too has a massive 4,400 mAh battery. However, according to the product announcement, the battery life is only around 5 to 6 hours, while the Reliance 3G tab, which has a 3,400 mAh battery, is also expected to run for as long.

This is the fourth tablet to be launched in the Rs 10,000-15,000 category. The others, however, have built in 3G, including the Beetel Magiq.

In other words, the iBall Slide is a good buy but only if you don’t intend to use if for browsing out-of-doors, because a tablet with a 3G data card sticking out of it may not convenient to handle or sleek to look at.

The rest of the features are the same as the other two tablets:

    7 inch 0.38 megapixel ( 800*480) display
Andriod 2.3 Gingerbread (Spice has Android 2.2)
WiFi,Bluetooth (support for 3G Data Card, no built in 3G)
    8GB built-in with 32GB SD card slot
    HDMI Output
