Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today said the Telengana government, headed by K Chandrashekar Rao, has been tapping the phones of Andhra government officials.

“One government can tap the phone of another government? How can he do (that)?” Naidu said, saying that there was a security issue in the way his government was functioning.

After the division of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh into Telengana and Andhra, both governments have their administrative headquarters in Hyderabad, which is technically inside the Telengana region.

Andhra Pradesh will move move its capital outside Hyderabad when their new capital city becomes ready in a few years.

The two leaders both target Telugu-speaking people, with Naidu have a greater presence in Telengana than Rao in Andhra.

Naidu said he has taken up the matter of his government’s security with the central government. He pointed out that Hyderabad is technically under governor’s rule and everyone must “fall in line” with that.
