After Xiaomi, Oppo and Gionee, it’s the turn of Chinese smartphone maker Vivo to have its phones made available in India. The company’s flagship, Vivo Xshot, will be available next week at a price of around Rs 25,000-30,000.
Vivo will also launch the cheaper Vivo X3S, priced around Rs 16,000, with a five inch HD 720p display, a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor, 1 GB RAM and advanced cameras, but without LTE. It will be supplemented by the Y15, which too will have a similar display and processor, but will come with half a GB of RAM.
At the entry level, there will be the Vivo Y22, a 4.5-inch quad-core model with 1 GB of RAM and Android Jelly Bean. The model, which comes with a 480×854 pixel display, will be priced in the Rs 6,000-6,500 range.
The LTE-enabled Vovo Xshot was launched in China in May this year at a price of Rs 29,990 and is currently available in Hong Kong market for $440 (Rs 27,000).
The Xshot comes with a full-HD 5.2 inch display, and one of the most advanced cameras on any phone in the world.
The camera on the Vivo Xshot comes with a second-generation Sony IMX214 sensor, has a double color temperature LED flash, optical image stabilization and an aperture of F1.8. The 13 MP camera comes equipped with a lens from Sony as well.
“Xshot F1.8 aperture brings in a greater amount of light, least by 50%, more than the common F2.2 aperture, which means it can dramatically shoot a professional image even in the low light condition,” the company said.
“Compared to 5P lens, Xshot owns 6P lens which is coupled with Sony second-generation IMX214 sensor. It, with the two-stage physical shutter button, records your lovely moments in promising quality.”
The front camera is 8 MP, one of the highest resolution, and covers an area of 84 degrees, making it a wide-angle lens. The back camera also records 4K ultra HD video, and comes with a special ‘professional video recording’ enabled.
Vivo, which has largely focused on the Chinese market so far, is also known for having the best audio on its phones. The Vivo Xshot is no exception. It comes with “advanced Hi-Fi version of the CS4398 + TLV320ADC + MAX97220.”
“A delicious feast to your ears with an ultimate solution,” the company said.
The Vivo X3S comes with a 13 MP camera at the back and a 5 MP camera at the front.
Vivo is one of the four highly anticipated Chinese companies coming to India. The only one remaining is Oneplus, which is expected to launch its Oneplus One phone in December in India.
Xiaomi has already caught India by storm with its Mi3 model and will be launching its Mi4 model next month. Oppo, which launched the Oppo Find 7 in India, has seen moderate sales in the country.
It has been Gionee, however, that has launched the largest number of phones among the new Chinese brands. The company has launched nearly a dozen models in India and has spend millions of rupees on promotions and marketing. Gionee’s marketing efforts in India rival that of Samsung and LG.
