Journalists strike work at Kerala’s first news only channel

In an unprecedented act, the entire staff of Kerala’s oldest TV channel have struck work, stopping the transmission of Indiavision TV.

The staff put up a statement on the website of the television channel, which has since been pulled down, accusing the management of violating several codes, to the detriment of the channel.

The statement said the acts of the management had led to violations and the employees found it difficult to work in a situation where

“അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ഈ സ്ഥാപനവും ധാര്‍മ്മികവും നിയമപരവുമായി ശരിയായരീതിയില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കണമെത് ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഈ ജോലിഇതുവരെചെയ്തുപോ ആര്‍ജ്ജവത്തില്‍ തുടരാന്‍ അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്. (It is important for the organization to work in a morally and legal right format for us to continue our work with full vigour.)” the statement said.

Indiavision editorial head is chief editor MP Basheer.

It was founded under the leadership of Dr MK Muneer, Minister for Social Welfare and Panchayat in the current Kerala council of ministers.
