Watch live TV on some Indian trains

If you thought DTH antennas are only for homes, think again. Dish TV has tied up with antenna-maker Gilat to install its antennas on the Maharaja Express, a luxury train in India.

The special antennas continuously turn and tilt to make sure that they are pointed towards Dish TV’s satellite, ensuring that the signal is always available.

“The train moving in any direction, at any speed, will receive seamless digital signal .. Dish TV will be installed in all cabins of Maharaja Express,” Dish TV, part of Subhash Chandra’s Zee group, said.

Maharaja Express, luxury train is owned & operated by (IRCTC), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railway.

Dish TV’s innovative and revolutionary mobile train technology is now installed in the Maharaja Express, one of the top twenty-five luxury trains in the world. Mobile Train Technology will enable travellers to experience in-train Live Entertainment of all genres on the go.

Dish TV is using mobile in venture satellite antennas manufactured by “Gilat” has enables live TV on the move. Every seat has a dedicated STB which enable the passenger to view channel of their own choice on the go. Dish TV Mobile Train Technology will facilitate travelers to watch live programs, news, matches and their favorite movies.

“Being connected with the world with live news from both national and international channels is a great facility, when one is travelling. IRCTC has always welcomed new initiatives and we appreciate Dish TV technological expertise in providing this innovative facility on our trains,” said Vineet Singh, GGM Services, IRCTC.

In addition, four other luxury trains in India, including the famous Palace on Wheels, also have this facility from Dish TV.
