Reliance Jio extends preview offer to corporate employees

reliance-jio-preview-offer-partnersReliance Jio, the start-up telecom operator led by Mukesh Ambani, has now started giving SIM cards with its three-month preview offer to corporate employees, according to people who have received such connections.

“It is three month unlimited and all employees got it,” said a person working in a Mumbai-based financial services company.

This marks an expansion of the company’s strategy to get its SIM cards on the handsets of the most well-off telecom customers.

Under its trial preview offer, it is already offering free SIMs with three months of unlimited calls and data to practically anyone with a 4G handset.

According to a blog report, the company’s strategy has paid it rich dividends with no less than seven million users having signed up for the preview.

The company is likely to have about 10 mln (1 cr) subscribers before the annual general meeting of Reliance Industries starts tomorrow.

Mukesh Ambani is expected to reveal details of the company’s full, commercial launch when he steps up to deliver his annual speech around noon tomorrow.

The company is expected to unveil its data and voice tariffs at the event or shortly thereafter.

Expecting the company’s tariffs to be ultra-affordable, Bharti Airtel, its biggest competitor, slashed its data rates this week from around 250 per GB to around Rs 50 per GB for heavy users.
