Videocon Z55 Krypton launched with 4G, 5-inch screen, 1 GB RAM

Videocon has launched its first 4G smartphone, the Z55 Krypton, at a price of Rs 7,999.

Though the pricing is largely okay, the specifications of the phone fall well short of what is offered for the same price by models like Xiaomi Redmi Prime, Yu Yuphoria, Intex, Lenovo A6000 Plus and so on.

The main drawback of theh phone is on the memory side. Application memory is just 1 GB and storage memory is just 8 GB.

For the same price or less, you can get phones from Chinese brands with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage memory.

“The best value handset comes with 13MP front camera and latest Android Lollipop 5.1 to make the smartphone experience engaging for today’s hyper-connected consumers. (It features) a 5-inch HD IPS screen with Dragon Trail X Anti-Scratch glass,” Videocon said.

“The new smartphone is the perfect companion for youngsters looking for their first 4G smartphone. The device is a design marvel and equipped with a 5MP front camera to snap brilliant quality selfies and enjoy clear video calling. Offering a long lasting connectivity, the device comes packaged with a powerful 2200 mAh battery and various network and utilities features like Bluetooth, GPS, Skype, V-Secure, Wi-Fi, Dual SIM, FM radio and others,” it added.

Those who are looking for a phone in the 8,000-10,000 range can wait for a few days for Lenovo to launch its A7010, which should be priced around the Rs 10,000 mark and will come with superior features compared to what is on offer in the Indian market right now.

Except for Micromax and Intex, other Indian brands have hardly launched 4G models and are finding the going very tough after the entry of Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Meizu and Vivo.
