Micromax Canvas 5 — When will the stocks be available in India?

micromax-canvas-5Micromax Canvas 5 is arguably one of the most affordable ‘high end’ phone launched in India in recent times. Yet, for those waiting to get their hands on the device days after it was ‘launched’, the wait has been unfruitful.

The Indian brand has been unable to supply the phone to the market even a week after it said that the phone will be available in the retail stores immediately.

Even the regular suspects, such as eBay, have not been able to sell the Canvas flagship yet.

However, things will change this week, according to distributors. By around Wednesday, most shops will start getting stocks, at least in the bigger cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, according to them.

Part of the reason for the delay has been Micromax’s attempt to make sure that the phone reaches as many distributors and cities as possible.

Unlike its sister company YU, or competitors like Lenovo and Xiaomi, Micromax is planning on making easy availability a key differentiating factor of the Canvas 5.

Though competitors like Meizu M2 Note and Lenovo K3 are slightly cheaper (at Rs 10,000), the Indian company is betting on the superior looks, higher RAM and a better network of dealers to beat the competition this time.

According to distributors, the Canvas 5 has the potential to become the biggest selling phone from the company this year.

“We’ll get early trends in a couple of days, when we’ll know for sure,” said a Palika Bazar, Delhi-based dealer.

Despite being a mid-ranger in terms of price, the Canvas 5 offers a 5.2-inch, full-HD display, 3 GB of RAM, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, a 1.3 GHz MT 6753 Octa-core processor, 13+5 MP cameras and a 2.9 Ah battery.
