Phicomm Energy 653 — already India’s cheapest 5-inch HD phone with 4G — has become even cheaper with a Rs 5,00 price cut, while Passion P660 — India’s cheapest full-HD 4G phone — has seen a massive price cut to Rs 6,999.

The cuts are unprecedented in their extent and make the Passion P660 arguably the most value-for-money phone in India at this point — surpassing phones like Lenovo K3 Note, Lenovo A6000 Plus, Lenovo A2010 and Yu Yunique.

The Energy model is now available for Rs 4,499. However, it is the Passion 660 that has seen a steeper cut — from a launch price of Rs 10,999 to just Rs 6,999.

In comparison, the Lenovo K3 Note, which is its closest competitor, is selling for Rs 9,999, while the Yu Yureka Plus, another phone with comparable specifications, is selling for Rs 8,999.

These new prices are available only on Amazon India and are being introduced as a festival offer.

The offer is valid only till this Friday (Oct 9).

Phicomm Passion P660 has got decent reviews on Amazon despite its previously high price.

The phone, however, has two key drawbacks — you can either use a second SIM or a MicroSD card, but not both at the same time. Secondly, it is based on Android KitKat 4.4. The back camera is also mediocre or even below average.

However, on the positive side, the phone is supposed to be a strong performer and has also got several OS updates already.

Battery is good enough for a day.

Phicomm Energy 653

The Energy model is the entry-level one from the company and has got decent feedback as it was priced at Rs 4,999 — making it the cheapest such phone in India. While the Lenovo A2010 was also priced at the same rate, it didn’t have an HD display and the screen was also smaller.

The Energy model is based on Snapdragon 210 and scores only around 17,000 on Antutu. Out of 8 GB internal 4.5GB is available for user, but an MicroSD card is supported.

Display quality is not top-end, but only average. The 653 also comes with Android Lolipop out of the box.
